ESPN 1240, the area’s only full-time sports station which not only carries the full programming of ESPN Radio but also local sports such as our popular Monday night Call-In Show, High School Football and Basketball, Valley League Baseball, a Daily NASCAR News Report and Virginia Tech Football and Basketball as well as Tech’s Hokie Hotline. This is our 14th year as the only local Virginia Tech Radio Station.

COMMUNITY: ESPN 1240-WTON has always been a good Community Steward by giving tons of community service air time away. This is our 39th year for the CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY, where we partner with the Staunton Rotary Club and the Waynesboro and Staunton Salvation Armies to raise $25,000+ to buy necessities for 275 of the area’s most underprivileged children. The money is raised via a 3-day Radio-Thon the Monday thru Wednesday following Thanksgiving. On the Saturday before Christmas, we host a huge party at the National Guard Armory where we feed and entertain over 600 children and their families.

WTON, for over 25 years, also helped raise well over $5 million dollars via a Radio-Thon for the Staunton Rescue Squad.
